Christmas Trees
Red Land Christmas Trees began one cold February afternoon in 1976 when Mike's father helped him plant several hundred Virginia Pine seedlings on part of a three acre field of broom sedge, that had grown cotton just a few short years earlier. While riding back home late that afternoon, his father asked "who do you think is going to buy a Christmas tree when they just always go to the woods and cut one". Mike's reply was "they may not, but times do change and in years to come, people may not have woods to go to". Yes, the population in West GA. did increase, so many farmsteads were sold to make way for housing and businesses. People had less acreage to live on and the "no trespassing" signs went up on many of the remaining farmsteads. The times and way of life did change and now the majority find a Christmas tree at chain stores (live or artifical), retail nurseries and tree farms.
Finding a Christmas tree at a tree farm isn't quite like going to the woods, but it can be exciting for the kids and a great family outing. For some families going to the tree farm has become a tradition. Some kids that came to our farm years ago, now bring their own kids and continue to visit our farm every Christmas season.
When customers visit our farm, we make a big effort to be helpful and accommadating. Our helpers can help cut your tree, although almost everyone wants to cut their own. We offer the services of shaking the tree to remove inside dead foliage, net the tree for transport and we help to secure the tree in or on your vehicle. We also offer wagon rides when requested and of course the traditional hot fire pit that is so appealing on a cold winters day, where you may want to have some of our famous boiled peanuts or perhaps roast some marshmellows and enjoy the Christmas music.
We hope that you will visit our farm and have a pleasant and memorable time. We are certain that your tree will be of the highest quality.
